- self defence paves way for world stage!
Arav Narula from VII - C recently participated in the Kumite (individual bouts) at the prestigious Thailand International Karate Open which was held in Bangkok in July.
As the youngest member from the Indian contingent, he participated in the Under 12 years; 35 kgs category. Arav fought 4 bouts in this internationally acclaimed tournament. His opponents were from Thailand, China and Singapore and Pakistan. He emerged victorious to add to the medal tally for India by winning a Bronze.
With representation from 23 countries, the Thailand International Karate Open has become a landmark competition in the Asian and International Karate circuit. This year (the 9th instalment of the annual competition) saw participation from 2,200 students and 45 official referees from across the globe.
Overall, the Indian contingent performed well– returning home with 10 medals – 1 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze.
