Holocaust Remembrance Day
In accordance to the guidelines of the UN General Assembly Resolution on holocaust and genocide, UNIC invited Manava Bharati India International School and six other schools of Delhi to take part in creating experience centers for the International Holocaust Memorial Day.
It was a two-day program on held on the 30th and 31st of January, 2018.
Built atop Martin Luther King Jr.'s premise of “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” , Manava Bharati's installation “Remove the HATE” was aimed to remind us that that we are all members of the human race, despite the differences in our appearances, faiths, beliefs and mindsets.
It is a promise of world where people coexist peacefully, rejecting hate and intolerance, and embracing compassion and understanding.
Visitors were asked to replace words that promote hatred with words that promote peace, love and co-existence.
The installation by the school was highly appreciated by members of the diplomatic community.
Ms. Avigail C.J. Spira member of the Israeli High Commission even tweeted – “ Most moving: remove the hate, spread positivity instead. #WeRemember#NeverAgain”.
On the second day, students from across Delhi schools visited the event. They were shown an animation on the Holocaust which was followed by a discussion with senior diplomats from different embassies.
