Annual Day 2018 - Ashoka
We celebrated our Annual Day – 2018 titled “Askoka ,the Legend” with vibrancy at Surya on , 07 December 2018.
Mr.Adwaita Charan Gadanayak Director General National Gallery of Modern Art, and Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar, who is a renowned Odissi dancer, guru and choreographer, were our Guests of Honour.
The guests were welcomed through a theme based exhibition on Ashoka and with a display of articles from Mauryan Dynasty. Entailing the formal welcome by the anchor Divyansh Pandey, the progressive annual report was read by the School Director ,Mrs Bharati Pandey. This was followed by the Prize distribution ceremony to the students who excelled in Academics, Quizzing, Language Skills and Extracurricular activities. The programme was an amalgamation of various hues befitting the theme wondrously. The evening commenced with a scintillating invocation Dance on Guru Vandana . The Fusion Orchestra, was a breezy mix of Western and Indian music, which captivated the audience.
The most riveting performance which drew an unceasing applause was the Ashoka, the Legend . A stage production that brought to life the metamorphic journey and spiritual uplift of the mighty Mauryan Emperor Ashoka and finally followed by his inspiration from teachings of the Buddha ,and finally he relinquished violence by adopting peaceful models of rule.
The props and costumes added colour to the theme with the synchronized dance styles including Kathak , Chhau, Odissi and yoga.. Guru Panchanan Bhuyan effectively choreographed this dance ballet on a journey highlighting the major milestones in Asoka’s life.. An astounding visual treat enthralled every spectator present.
