Van Mahotsav: Celebrating the Joy of Nature at MBIIS
“From little seeds grow mighty trees.”
With great enthusiasm, the school came alive, celebrating Van Mahotsav, a tradition joyously observed as a festival of life on 25 July every year, the day Manava Bharati India International School was founded in 1941 in Rajpur, Dehradun. We mark this special day by planting saplings and pledging to care for the environment by avoiding activities that contribute to global warming. The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an address from the school Director. Ms. Rekha Dixit, our esteemed chief guest, a journalist for nearly three decades, in leading publications like The Times of India, The Express Group and The Week, shed light on the importance of conserving our environment. The school choir dedicated a beautiful song to nature, while a mesmerizing group dance themed around nature enthralled everyone present. The culmination of the ceremony was marked by a grand ceremonial procession. During the procession, students chanted shlokas, danced, and sang D.L Roy. They adorned themselves as the five elements of nature - Sun, Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth, showering their blessings on the sapling. The procession symbolized our pledge to protect the very elements that sustain us. Finally, the sapling found its new home in the school grounds, and as we planted it, we made a heartfelt promise to nurture it, understanding that by doing so, we are nurturing our future and the future of the Earth.
Here are some moments captured during the celebration, reminding us to hold onto the spirit of Van Mahotsav in our hearts every day!
